Grammy-winning South African singer Tyla has thrilled fans by confirming that she has recorded a song with Nigerian Afrobeats megastar, Wizkid.
The revelation came during a fan interaction on X (formerly Twitter). A curious fan asked if the lyrics Tyla had previously teased were from a song featuring Wizkid. She responded:
“Yess, made the song in 2022, freestyled a melody in his hotel room. Me, Korey, Prime n vibesss.”
This marks the first-ever collaboration between the two Grammy-winning artists. Both Tyla and Wizkid are leading voices in the global export of African music, and fans have expressed excitement about what’s to come.
The song was recorded back in 2022, before Tyla’s global breakout with her hit single ‘Water’ in July 2023.
Over the past year, Tyla has built strong musical ties with Nigerian artists. She previously featured Ayra Starr on ‘Girl Next Door’ in May 2023 and worked with Tems on ‘No. 1’, a track from her self-titled debut album. She also appeared on DJ Spinall’s ‘One Call’ alongside Omah Lay.

Tyla has often named Wizkid as one of her musical inspirations, making this collaboration a major personal and professional milestone.
Although fans are eager to hear the track, Tyla hasn’t announced a release date yet. When it drops, it will be her second single of 2025, following the May release of ‘Bliss’.
This year has been big for the rising star. She won the AMA for Best Afrobeats Artist, adding to her multiple global accolades from 2024.
