Okun born General Olu Irefin Dies of complication related to Covid-19

Mr Irefin, a major-general, was a participant at the army’s 2020 COAS Annual Conference in Abuja during which he fell ill and was taken to the hospital. He later tested positive for COVID-19 and was receiving treatment before he died.

The late Mr Irefin was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Port Harcourt in Rivers State.

He was also land component commander, Operation Delta Safe.

Ohonotv understands that Irefin gave his mother a befiting burial in just two weeks ago at Ayetoro Gbede, Kogi state.

He was GOC 81 Division in Lagos before his posting to Port Harcourt in July 2020.

Following the death of GOC Olu irefin the army conference was cancelled.

Sagir Musa acting Director of army Public relations made the statement on Thursday. He also mandate all participants to proceed on self- isolation.


“All the participants have been mandated to immediately proceed on self-isolation in line with the Federal Government’s protocol for COVID 19 and to prevent any further spread of the disease.

“All inconveniences hereby regretted, please. Thanks for your usual understanding and cooperation.”
