₦24.5m Prize Money for 2025 NWFL Premiership Super 6 Aims to Boost Women’s Football in Nigeria
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has announced a total prize pool of ₦24.5 million for the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super 6, aiming to significantly boost the growth of women’s football in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday by the league’s Media Director, Samuel Ahmadu, the NWFL confirmed that this year’s prize money structure reflects an intentional move to raise the financial standards of the league and offer greater support to participating clubs.
Breakdown of the 2025 Prize Money
According to the NWFL:

Champions will receive ₦10 million, continuing the reward from the last two seasons.

Runners-up will take home ₦6 million, up from ₦5 million last year.

Third-place finishers will earn ₦4 million, a ₦1 million increase from the previous edition.

Bottom three teams will each receive ₦1.5 million, a significant boost from the previous ₦500,000 payout.
This marks a major shift in inclusivity and support, ensuring that all six teams participating in the final round receive a tangible reward.
NWFL’s Commitment to Women’s Football
Nkechi Obi, Chairperson of the NWFL, stated that the new financial structure aligns with the league’s vision of professionalizing women’s football in the country.
“This is a deliberate step to ensure that all clubs leave the NWFL Premiership Super 6 with something tangible,” Obi said. “By increasing the financial rewards, especially for the bottom three, we’re reinforcing our commitment to professionalizing the women’s game and encouraging more investment at club level.”

Beyond financial benefits, the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super 6 champion will also:
