Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration and enhancing the educational sector in Kogi State through strategic initiatives and investments.
The Commissioner gave the assurance during an advocacy visit with the team from the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project.
During the meeting, Dr. Linda Akpami, an Environmental and Social Management Plan Consultant (AGILE PROJECT),congratulated the Commissioner on his reappointment, acknowledging his exceptional accomplishments during his prior term.
She stated that, the project aims to empower adolescent girls through education, addressing socio- cultural, financial and infrastructural challenges hindering their access to secondary education
Dr. Linda stressed that the essence of the visit is to ensure good representation and effective partnership between the AGILE E&S Team and the Kogi State Ministry of Education. She added that, the collaboration will facilitate the effective implementation of the project.
In His response, the Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the AGILE Project team for their visit, reaffirming the State Government’s dedication to fostering an environment conducive to education and sustainable development in Kogi State.
He emphasized the importance of their partnership, highlighting the collaborative efforts to empower adolescent girls through education.
Hon. Wemi highlighted the remarkable strides made by the Ododo-led administration in transforming education in Kogi State, referencing the allocation of 30% of the state’s budget to education, covering WAEC and JAMB fees for all public secondary students, establishing an inclusive education policy, rehabilitating vocational centers, and implementing security measures.
