Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has strongly criticized Nigeria’s leadership trajectory since 2007, lamenting that the progress made under former President Olusegun Obasanjo was not sustained.
Speaking during the 2025 Law Week event organized by the NBA Bwari Branch, El-Rufai argued that subsequent administrations, rather than building on the economic and political gains of the Obasanjo era, ultimately squandered the nation’s opportunities for prosperity.
According to him, the failure to capitalize on those achievements has significantly hampered Nigeria’s development path.
