Maresca Aims for European Treble to Spark Chelsea’s Comeback

Chelsea Conference League Maresca

Enzo Maresca believes winning the Conference League would prove Chelsea’s return to the top. According to him, lifting the trophy would mark a new beginning for the club.

After Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Djurgarden in the semi-final first leg, Maresca spoke with great confidence. He feels that a victory in Wroclaw on May 28 would send a strong message across Europe.

What Maresca Said

Maresca admitted that the Conference League is not the competition Chelsea usually targets. However, he stressed that winning any trophy is important to build a “winners’ mentality.”

Moreover, he pointed out that the Conference League is the only major European trophy missing from Chelsea’s collection. Therefore, winning it would make Chelsea the first club to claim all European titles.

“Winning the Conference League would show Chelsea is back,” Maresca said on Wednesday.
“It’s where we are now, and it’s a good starting point. We must respect it.”

In addition, he said, “Winning this trophy would build confidence. It would prepare us to aim higher in the future.”

Despite the big gap in squad value between Chelsea and Djurgarden, Maresca insists they will approach the second leg seriously. Meanwhile, he has encouraged his players to stay focused and maintain momentum.

What’s Next for Chelsea?

After their European semi-final, Chelsea will face Newcastle United. They aim to boost their chances of playing in the Champions League next season.

Currently, the Blues sit in fifth place, which secures the final qualifying spot. As a result, Maresca is determined to finish the season strongly.

Winning a European trophy and qualifying for the Champions League would mark a major comeback for Chelsea.
