Nigerian street-pop star Habeeb Badmus Okikiola, better known as Portable, has confirmed receiving a ₦20 million cash gift from Grammy-winning Afrobeats icon Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, following his victory over rapper Speed Darlington in a celebrity boxing match. The bout, titled Chaos in the Ring: Battle for Glory, took place on April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, where Portable secured a first-round technical knockout (TKO) after Speed Darlington, real name Darlington Okoye, could not continue due to a dislocated shoulder.
Portable shared his excitement on Instagram, posting a video where he instructed his team to contact Burna Boy’s manager, who verified the transfer of the ₦20 million. In the clip, the Zazu Zehh singer praised Burna Boy, calling him “Odogwu” and his “helper,” and vowed to publicize the gesture despite requests for discretion. “20 million from @burnaboygram. If you wanna be like Odogwu, can you do like Odogwu? God bless your family,” Portable wrote on his Instagram story, also seizing the moment to request a musical collaboration with the Last Last hitmaker.
Speed Darlington, who left the venue in an ambulance with his shoulder bandaged, later downplayed the injury, claiming it was fixed on route to the hospital. However, he accused Portable of using “juju” (spiritual charms) to secure the win and demanded a rematch, which Portable rejected, stating, “I no rematch o. Bring another person.” The rapper also took to Instagram to shade Burna Boy, suggesting the Grammy winner closely monitors his activities, writing, “Nobody watches you more than your enemy… Long Face sleeps on my page.”
The ₦20 million gift appears tied to the ongoing feud between Burna Boy and Speed Darlington, who has previously accused Burna Boy of questionable ties to secure his Grammy and faced arrests for alleged defamation, reportedly linked to the Afrobeats star. X posts reflect varied sentiments, with some fans lauding Burna Boy’s generosity, while others, called for a rematch, citing Speed Darlington’s injury.
