Authenticity Crisis: Atiku Takes on Tinubu’s ‘Nigeria First’ Policy

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to lead by example if he truly supports the “Nigeria First” policy. Through his aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticized government officials for using foreign luxury goods while urging Nigerians to buy locally made products.

Atiku suggested that President Tinubu trade his Cadillac Escalade for a Nigerian-made car, such as Innoson or Nord. He believes this would show genuine support for local businesses.

Atiku also criticized Tinubu for seeking medical care and vacations abroad. He recommended that the president use local hospitals like LUTH or UCH and visit places like Obudu Cattle Ranch instead. Shaibu said that leadership is about actions, not just words. He accused the government of being insincere, especially with the World Bank warning about rising poverty in Nigeria.
