In a surprising turn of events, the House of Representatives member, Arch. Salman Idris, and Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, have successfully orchestrated the defection of over 2,000 members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State to the ruling party.
Among the notable defectors from the PDP were Hon. Joash Onemayin and other prominent figures such as Chief Noah Olorunipa, Mr. Rufus Ojo, Mr. Omotola Olorunmaiye, Hon. Francis Omodamori, Hon. Alausa, Mr. Taiwo Ojo, Mrs. Taiwo Ojo, Mr. Edward Shogo, and Festus Omodamori, who all joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a grand event held in Kabba, Kabba-Bunu LGA, on Saturday.
The new members expressed their faith in the leadership of Arch. Salman Idris and Hon. Wemi Jones, highlighting their contributions to development and commitment to good governance as their reasons for joining the APC.
Arch. Salman Idris and Hon. Wemi Jones both expressed deep appreciation for the show of support, vowing to continue working tirelessly for the betterment of Kabba-Bunu LGA and Kogi State as a whole.
Hon. Joash Onemayin, now aligned with the APC, pledged to work closely with the party’s leadership to ensure its continued success and progress in the local government. He lauded the efforts of Arch. Salman Idris and other APC leaders for their dedication in mobilizing new members, stressing that their commitment would undoubtedly strengthen and unite the APC in the area.
Hon. Joash further called on all party members to remain united in their efforts to build a better and more prosperous future for all residents in Kabba-Bunu LGA.
This mass defection is expected to significantly reshape the political landscape of the state, as the ruling party garners more support and momentum from influential stakeholders in the region.
