Socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has urged the new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition to ensure true inclusion of youths and women in leadership, rather than offering only token roles.
Speaking on her X handle on Wednesday, Yesufu stressed that positions like “women leader” or “youth leader” should not be the only spaces reserved for them.
“A table full of older men cannot be the only decision-making body as we go on,” she said.
Moreover, she encouraged young people and women to get involved actively.
“This is the time for numbers. Join, be delegates, floor members, and bring fresh ideas,” she added.
Meanwhile, her comments came shortly after the ADC coalition was formally launched as a new opposition platform for the 2027 elections.
At the event in Abuja, former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola were named interim National Chairman and Secretary.
Consequently, ADC’s founding chairman, Ralph Nwosu, said the previous leadership stepped aside to allow new leaders steer the party in a fresh direction.
